Bio and Resume

A baritone opera singer from Saint Louis, MO, Randell is passionate about performing contemporary works especially workshops that showcase the new compositions of composers making significant strides in the opera world. Randell has worked with Opera Fusion:New Works in the workshops Bulrusher (Logger), a story which follows a multiracial girl found as an infant floating in a basket on the Navarro River, The Righteous (Jacob), a story which explores the tension between genuine faith and the fraught world of 1980s politics, and Lalovavi, an Afrofuturist grand opera which illuminates the resilient spirit and heritage of the Black American experience.

Randell has received recognition from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition by receiving three Encouragement Awards (2016, 2020, 2024). Randell has performed in a wide range of operas and concerts, including The Messiah (Bass Soloist), A Tragedy of Carmen (Escamillo), Tosca (Carceriere), Amahl and the Night Visitors (King Melchior), Der Rosenkavalier (Lackey 2, covering Waiter 4), The Righteous (covering Jacob), Madame Butterfly (Imperial Commissioner), Thérèse (covering Municipal Officer), Castor and Patience (covering West, Watchman, Cato), La Bohème (Sergeant), The Tales of Hoffmann (Hermann, Schlemil), Fire Shut up in my Bones (Adult James, Lay About Man), Rigoletto (Usher, covering Marullo and Monterone), The Marriage of Figaro (covering Antonio), Lost in the Stars (William), and HMS Pinafore (Bob Beckett).

Randell’s opera training includes Opera Theatre of Saint Louis Gerdine Young Artist (2019), Sarasota Opera Apprentice Program for singers (2023), Dayton Opera Artist in Residence Program for singers (2024-2025), and The Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program for singers (2024-2025). Randell holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Webster University. Randell is grateful for the many performance opportunities that God has blessed him with throughout his career and is looking forward to many more performances to come!
